The origin story:

Elmendorf Baking Supplies was opened in 2018 with the goal of creating a space for Boston's baking community to gather and shop.

The store is the brainchild of owners Alyssa and Teddy Applebaum who met in college and spent more than a decade working in some of Boston's best bakeries, restaurants, and specialty food shops. Elmendorf is built around their shared love of food, retail, and old world vibes.

But the history goes even deeper than that. The shop is named after Alyssa's great-great-grandparents who owned a bakery by the same name in Germany. It also pays homage to Teddy's grandparents and great- grandparents who owned Jewish Butcher shops in New Jersey.

Elmendorf is a labor of love, an eclectic collection of baking, cooking, and food adjacent products.
